Pastor Kurt Kuykendall
Kurt was born and raised in Grande Prairie, Alberta to parents who were devoted to Christ and the local church. His father worked as a farmer, and his mother worked initially as a homemaker but as their six children grew up, she later became a business owner of a cosmetics store. Kurt came to faith at a young age after reading a children’s Bible twice through.
Tammy was born in Smithers, BC and spent most of her growing up years in Victoria. Her parents both loved the Lord and led Tammy to faith at a young age.
Kurt and Tammy met in Bible college in Calgary, and were married on July 31, 1999. They immediately moved to Toronto to allow Kurt to begin a new job as Associate Minister at Keele Street Christian Church. Sixteen months later, Kurt and Tammy joined the staff of a new church plant that later became Church Meadows Christian Church in Mississauga, Ontario.
Later in 2006, just a few months after their son, Isaiah, was born, they accepted the call from the Lord to plant a new church in Metro Vancouver (Mercy Hill Christian Church). During that time, they saw over 80 people baptized, and the church helped 7 other new churches begin.
In February 2021, Kurt began as Wadena Baptist Church’s new pastor. He is excited to serve Christ and the church family with preaching, prayer, pastoral care, and training and equipping leaders.
Tammy and Kurt’s loving children are Isaiah and Victoria. Isaiah loves playing hockey, and Victoria enjoys playing the piano and working in the garden.
Moira Willems
Moira Willems serves as the WBC Secretary, bringing 16 years of administrative experience from a church plant in Saskatoon. Guided by the Lord, she and her husband Mark relocated to Wadena in December 2017.
Married since 1982, Moira and Mark are grateful for God's grace to enjoy a Christ-centered marriage and a passion for God’s Word and the Church. They have three sons—one in heaven, one in Burnaby, BC, and one in Saskatoon with his wife and three grandsons.
Moira is a passionate creator who loves crafting greeting cards, sewing and songwriting. She also carries a deep heart for prayer, particularly for the persecuted global Church.

Candice Botha is passionate about faith, family, and building meaningful work. She manages rental properties and works in Ag business and finance. When she's not working, she values time spent in devotion, personal growth, and helping others. Her family is her passion.
