Victoria, Isaiah

Kurt and Tammy

Pastor Kurt Kuykendall

Kurt was born and raised in Grande Prairie, Alberta to parents who were devoted to Christ and the local church. His father worked as a farmer, and his mother worked initially as a homemaker but as their six children grew up, she later became a business owner of a cosmetics store. Kurt came to faith at a young age after reading a children’s Bible twice through.

Tammy was born in Smithers, BC and spent most of her growing up years in Victoria. Her parents both loved the Lord and led Tammy to faith at a young age.

Kurt and Tammy met in Bible college in Calgary, and were married on July 31, 1999. They immediately moved to Toronto to allow Kurt to begin a new job as Associate Minister at Keele Street Christian Church. Sixteen months later, Kurt and Tammy joined the staff of a new church plant that later became Church Meadows Christian Church in Mississauga, Ontario.

Later in 2006, just a few months after their son, Isaiah, was born, they accepted the call from the Lord to plant a new church in Metro Vancouver (Mercy Hill Christian Church). During that time, they saw over 80 people baptized, and the church helped 7 other new churches begin.

In February 2021, Kurt began as Wadena Baptist Church’s new pastor. He is excited to serve Christ and the church family with preaching, prayer, pastoral care, and training and equipping leaders.

Tammy and Kurt’s loving children are Isaiah and Victoria. Isaiah loves playing hockey, and Victoria enjoys playing the piano and working in the garden.

Moira Willems

Moira Willems is the WBC secretary.  She was involved with a church plant in Saskatoon and volunteered herself into an administrative assistant position with that church which lasted 16 years.  She and her husband Mark moved to Wadena in December, 2017 through some amazing guidance from the Lord (ask her about that story!)  And after attending Wadena Baptist and offering to serve as needed, she eventually found she’d once again volunteered her way into a church administrative position.

Moira and Mark were married in 1982 and have three boys, one in heaven, one in Burnaby, BC and one in Dawson Creek, BC with a lovely daughter-in-law and three grandsons.  They also have a former foster daughter that they delight to call their foster-granddaughter.

Moira loves to craft and create all sorts of things, whether elaborate pop-up cards for her family and friends, sewing for herself, house and hubby, or crafting words and music for original songs.  She’s thankful God created her to create! She’s also particularly fond of bunnies, which they’ve had as pets regularly over the years.

She’s grateful for her husband and the way God has led them into a deeply Christ-centered marriage relationship and a passion for God’s Word, Godly values and the Church.  She also has a heart to pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world.
